Cicero gets a new Queen, Senorita/Miss Cicero 2015-16

Cicero IL. - The Cicero Mexican Cultural Committee is proud to announce our new Queen, Miss/Senorita Cicero 2015-16 nineteen year old and Morton College student Amber Moreno. First runner up was eighteen year old Cynthia Dorantes, and second was twenty year old Jasmine Salgado. This year’s pageant theme was the portrayal of strong and powerful Mexican female historical legends, folkloric characters, and ancient Aztec goddesses who have contributed and influenced Mexican history, social traditions and culture. Such characters like, the passionate” Frida Karlo”, the brave revolutionary “Adelita”, the arrogant,” La Catrina,” and the great powerful Aztec goddess “Tonantzin”. Amber Moreno portrayed the ghostly Mexican legend, “La Llorona”, a women who confused true love with selfishness, denying her divine nature of motherhood by killing her babies for a love of a man and now condemned for all eternity for her great sin.
